Infection Control and Hand-washing Techniques are a critical ingredient in the modern healthcare setting – not only in dedicated medical facilities but also in home care environments. Our Infection Control and Hand Washing Techniques Programme is delivered to ensure the highest practical standards of Infection Control are applied as part of the everyday work culture.
This course is based on the guidelines issued for Infection Control and Hand-washing by both HIQA and the HSE. A combination of practical exercises, theory instruction and risk assessments, using different multimedia provides an interesting learning environment.
Learners are instructed in the management of infection from a housekeeping perspective, the use of personal protective equipment, body fluid spill management, linen management and best practices.
EMS use the “Glitterbug” Hand Wash Training System which utilises UV detectable cream to identify both Good and Bad hand-washing techniques. This is a fun and educational element of the course.
The History of Hygiene, Personal & Hand Hygiene, Healthcare Associated Infections, The Working Environment, Waste Management, Management of Blood & Body Fluid Spillages, Personal Protective Equipment – Glove Selection and Uses, Linen Management, Management of Workplace Equipment.
PREFERRED ENTRY LEVEL
Learners should be working or intending to work in a healthcare setting but there are no previous qualifications required.
