Entry Criteria

There are no specific entry criteria, including a minimum age, for undertaking the course. However, a course participant should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have the maturity to complete assessments to receive certification. Any medical condition (including pregnancy) that would affect a participant’s ability to complete the practical skills session must be discussed with the Course Instructor before the course commences.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be issued joint PHECC/EMS & Associates certificates/cards, which will be valid for two years from the date of issue.

For those wishing to do a Recertification course and who have an existing Occupational First Aid Certificate, we must first see their Certificate and QQI award. The date on the certificate (not the QQI award) is the date that determines the expiry, which is two years later. Anyone with a certificate outside the expiry date will need to repeat the three-day course.
